Welcome to the website for the Ship and Mitre
The Ship and Mitre is known to many as Merseyside's Premier Real Ale pub. It was Liverpool & District CAMRA Pub Of The Year in 2009. The name derives from a combination of two previous names, The Flag Ship and The Mitre. An original 1930's Art Deco building, the interior has been changed to resemble that of a ship.
The Ship and Mitre serves an excellent range of cask conditioned real ale, imported draught and a wide selection of German and Belgian beers. It is well known amongst CAMRA members and is regularly featured in Merseyale and The Good beer Guide. There are 13 handpumps offering real ales from microbreweries all over the country. Each brewery only delivers one barrel of each brew, which is why we have three menu boards placed around the pub so you don't have to walk around looking at all of the pump clips (as some of you still do!) Each of the barrels is cask conditioned and with this and the hard work of the best cellar man ever, the customer receives an excellent pint!
In addition to these ales, we also have a wide range of beers from around the world. From German Pilsners and Czech lagers to the famous Strawberry Fruli. In the fridges, there are 70+ German, Belgian and Polish beers which all need to be tried!
How to find us...
If you are travelling by car and wish to put us in your Sat Nav, our address is 133 Dale Street Liverpool L3 2JH. By train, Lime Street Station is within sight of the pub and Moorfileds is a five minute walk along Dale Street.
Burning Kitchen @ The Ship
Burning Kitchen is a new catering company, serving food to the customers of The Ship & Mitre. The owner, Dave Burgan serves only fresh food, bought from local suppliers. The menu is made up of light snacks...paninis, food to share...nachos and main meals, for example the firm favourite... fish, chips and peas. One dish on the menu that stands out particurlarly is the homemade burgers. These are made to order, and can vary from a lamb and mint to a chilli and corriander. Orders can now be made online, so you can have it waiting for you when you arrive. For further information, please visit www.burningkitchen.co.uk.
The 'Higher' Room
The function room above The Ship and Mitre is now known as The Higher Room. This room has many art deco influences that have been restored with the recent refurbishment. The Higher Room is available to people and companies who may want to hold a meeting, a club or a party for a special occasion. Whatever your needs, we can meet them - from a delicious buffet to having your own bar person for the night. Just call in at any time if you wish to see The Higher Room - please book early or you may be disappointed!

Beer Festivals
The Ship and Mitre holds four Real Ale beer festivals each year, where we have at least 80 real ales available. We have 13 ales on the bar, approximately 20 on the stillage and many more in the cellar. We now have one Belgian and three German beer festivals each year too. An unsung hero of all Ship festivals is John Faz, who pours the ales from the barrels in the cellar during cellar run hours, 2-5pm. Food is available throughout the festival; bratwurst sausage in a roll, cheese board, and of course our famous scouse. Entrance to our beer festivals is always FREE - more money to spend on good quality beer!
